Hydrock checks in with Bristol Airport job
Hydrock has been appointed as civil and structural designer for the new west terminal extension at Bristol Airport.
This is the first stage of a planned multi-million pound development over the next 10 years which will include a second extension, east terminal pier and walkway, hotel and multi-storey car parking and which will enable the airport to handle 10 million passengers per annum.
The Hydrock team will be working on the initial scheme design with a view to preparing employer’s requirements documentation by the beginning of this summer.
The west terminal extension will be a 3-storey structure, incorporating a single storey basement, of predominantly concrete frame construction but with a steel frame to the front elevation.
Structural design will need to take account of geotechnical issues around potential solution features and safety requirements for blast resistance.
