Vinci to build Cardiff student housing and fire station

Vinci Construction UK has won a £23m contract from developers Cambrian Holst for the new build of a large student accommodation block and fire station in central Cardiff.

The student accommodation will be divided into two sections, the first will have 107 en-suite bedrooms, 40 studios and one disabled bedroom, the other section will include 274 en-suite bedrooms, 117 studios and one flat. The fire station will involve the design and build of a new station with three fire appliance bays and ancillary accommodation.

Chris Pape, managing director Vinci Construction UK Building Division - Midlands, South West, Wales and Retail commented: “This is another excellent opportunity for Vinci Construction UK to demonstrate their ability to produce work of the highest standard right in the heart of Cardiff. Both the student accommodation and the fire station will pose their own individual challenges which will require all of our expertise”

The two projects will run in tandem and will involve working in partnership with architects Morgan 2 Hayman as well as structural engineers Jubb Consulting.
